This is a chance for collaboration with your peers so you can share information and develop as a leader. Expert consultants will help you identify priority issues in teaching and learning and professional development for your teams. You will be able to develop solutions, drawing on the expertise within the group. This strengthening of informal school-to-school support will create an effective network of information, advice and guidance.

0915-0945 National and regional update (Steve Hacker SLP Lead) With DfE’s withdrawal of support for networking and biology, chemistry and technician CPD from Sept 1st onwards we will begin to discuss your CPD needs for next academic year.
0945-1045 Science Leadership Benchmarks Stem Learning has developed a set of benchmarks to help develop your leadership of your team. This session explores how you can assess your own organization’s leadership of science and identify areas for development (Steve Hacker)
1045-1115 Break
1115-1215 Consistency and quality in your science department establishing principles for achieving a unified approach can be tricky especially in large teams. With a strong emphasis on how we teach and assess practical science this workshop session will look at some possible ways to achieve this. (Radha Jaipersaad)

1315-1415 Teaching graphs and graphing skills Why do some students struggle to draw graphs? Are you working harder than the students to support graph drawing? This session summarises the research around graph plotting and interpretation, providing simple solutions for the classroom for you to share with your teams. It will also provide signpost the new ASE publication “Grappling with Graphs” (Steve)
1415-1430 Tea
1430-1530 Creating an inclusive classroom The language we use and the approaches we employ in the classroom can exclude some pupils from embracing science lessons. This session provides ideas, hints and tips to create a more inclusive teaching environment. (Radha)
