Nuffield Assessment in Science

The Nuffield-Chelsea Curriculum Trust organised the writing of the books in the Nuffield Assessment in Science series soon after the start of the GCSE qualification. At this time there was a growing requirement for more formal assessments of student progress by science teachers - most obviously in the internal assessments required by GCSE. As a result, the techniques of assessment and examinations that had been a part of the province of experts had increasingly become the business of every teacher.

Three books were published:
*Methods of assessment - dealing with written examinations
*Assessment of Practical Work for the GCSE
*Assessing Nuffield Co-ordinated Sciences - with particular reference to practical assessment.
