Career Conferences

National Space Academy

The National Space Academy Career Conferences allow students the opportunity to find out about a variety of careers in the UK Space Sector and related industries. The days invite numerous speakers, from various companies and/or universities within the sector, to talk to students about the job the do, the space involved, their role and how they got there.

There are three types of Career Conferences that the National Space Academy run:

Year 12:

The format of the day is a series of talks and presentations whereby the students pick which companies and/or speakers they would like to see most. The day also includes a ‘meet the scientist’ exhibition where the students get the chance to speak directly to the speakers; asking any questions they have about the work they do, while the speakers showcase some of their specialist equipment. The day finishes with a keynote.

Year 10:

The format of the day is similar to the Year 12 whereby there are a series of talks and presentations from  speakers but in the Year 10 the students will attend all presentations given. There is also an educational workshop included as part of the day.

Year 8 - Not just an Astronaut day

This is hosted at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (Harwell), where students are invited to take part in a series of activities and tour designed to show them what else they can do if they want to have a career in the space sector, other than being an astronaut.
