Fantastic Plastic *suitable for home teaching*
This booklet is part of the ‘Innovations in Practical Work’ series published by the Gatsby Science Enhancement Programme (SEP). Plastics – or polymers as they are more correctly called – look set to be the material of the future. Think of any product and it is likely that it consists, at least in part, of a polymer. Present-day polymers exhibit a huge range of properties, and new polymers are being developed all the time with ever more impressive properties. This booklet provides teachers with an overview of polymers as they are today, together with ideas to demonstrate some of their more unusual properties and their vast range of uses. The Fantastic Plastic booklet contains an illustrated overview of the topic with suggestions for teachers on how to introduce the ideas in the classroom, plus student activity sheets and notes for teachers and technicians.

• PowerPoint presentations: these contain a complete set of the images used in the booklet and activity sheets.
