Green School

Howe Dell School was commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council as an exemplar eco-school. It took eight years to plan and build and features a wide range of engineering solutions and green technologies. For example, the inter-seasonal heat transfer system uses the playground surface to absorb heat energy during the summer which is stored underground to be released into the school through winter.

This video was produced by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to accompany the Green School set of resources.

Curriculum links include careers, engineers, insulation, sustainability, heat energy, law of thermodynamics, heat transfer, renewable energy sources
