Uglies Are the Spice of Life

This short video looks at the classification of animals. Highlighting that vertebrates are a small percentage of animals on the planet, it provides a summary of the key features of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

The video then focuses on insects, the largest group of invertebrates, looking at their main features and showing some interesting and unusual insects. The clip ends with an activity idea - to research an invertebrate and make it a school mascot.

The video was produced by the British Science Association for the National Science + Engineering Competition.
