Future Morph: Chief Scientific Officer (Raptor Biologist)

In this Future Morph video, scientific officer Campbell Murn talks about his work with birds of prey at the Hawk Conservancy Trust. He works as a biologist involved with the conservation, rehabilitation and education programmes run by the trust. Campbell describes some of his activities which include surveying habitats to assess their suitability for birds of prey, and then monitoring the birds following their release. In a related classroom activity, students use the capture-mark-release-recapture method to estimate the abundance of 'prey' for the birds.

An associated resources booklet, which can be found in the Introduction to Future Morph Resources, organises the videos into themes, provides an overview of the teachers’ notes, describes practical activities and suggests cross-curricular links.

Although this resource was created in 2010 as part of the Future Morph project run by the Science Council and the resources date from this time, it is still relevant and useful today.
