The Inventor’s Workshop - Northern Ireland Teachers ONLY NN029
This 2-day course will be a combination of a 1 day face to face training with the opportunity to build and test models with a follow up online session.
Summary
Teachers will be introduced to ideas for developing and enhancing their own Science and Technology subject knowledge within the World Around Us curriculum, and build confidence in supporting pupils to develop their learning through designing and building models. The course will explore a range of inventions with particular reference to Northern Ireland inventors and will provide planners and resources for all of the activities as well as lots of ideas to take back for classroom use across the key stages.

Outcomes
Participants will:
- be introduced to a line of progression in the Design and Technology process and follow a framework that allows for the stages of development through which children naturally pass when involved in designing and making models to support scientific learning
- experience a range of activities designed to engage and excite pupils in science and wider STEM activities linked to the WAU curriculum
- acquire a range of skills through hands on experience, designing and testing models and consider how these can be used back in the classroom.
