Primary maths in science RJ198 / C17
Summary
With the introduction of the new Inspection Framework, schools are beginning to consider how they can ensure mathematical knowledge does not sit in isolation across the curriculum. The framework makes specific reference to the need for children to apply their mathematical knowledge across other areas of the curriculum. It states that inspectors will consider: how well pupils develop and/or use their mathematical knowledge, understanding and skills across the curriculum.
Outcomes
- Teachers participating in this Work Group will develop their pedagogy when teaching maths in science to apply the principles of teaching for depth of understanding.
- Teachers will develop skills and knowledge to allow pupils to apply their mathematical skills and understanding.
- Maths leads and Science leads will work collaboratively to identify how and when they can achieve both maths and science objectives symbiotically without compromising either.
This Work Group is delivered in partnership between the Great North Maths Hub and the Science Learning Partnership and will run across three sessions. You will require a NCETM username to participate in this CPD.
