Summary

Making Space for Science in the Curriculum

Our primary conferences always provide outstanding learning opportunities linked to topical developments in primary Science teaching alongside time to talk and share ideas with other primary practitioners. The focus of this conference is to consider how to maximise the use of curriculum time by making effective connections between Science and other subjects including English, Mathematics and D&T.

In collaboration with Telford Education Services.

Choose a session from each of the following workshops:

Workshop 1:

  • The Language of Science with Linda Atherton
  • Teaching Primary Science using Data Logging with Iain Davison

Workshop 2:

  • Linking Science and Mathematics with Linda Atherton
  • Taking Science Outside with Lucy Holdcroft

Workshop 3:

  • Embedding Computing in STEM - An introduction to the micro:bit with Paul Gerrie
  • CLEAPSS – a whole more than just Safety in Science! with Ant Snowden

Workshop 4:

  • Using Science to help hook young children into reading with Greg Smallbone
  • Putting the E into STEM with Ant Snowden

 

There are a limited number of 70% Teacher Release Payment subsidies available to Maintained schools which will reduce the cost to only £30. Please email NMSLP@potteries.ac.uk to ask for the TRP code. Please note that this does not automatically deduct the fee immediately.  You will receive an invoice for the full amount and the Teacher Release Payment will be released back to the school once attendance at the event has been confirmed.

  • discuss current good practice in primary science
  • recognise your own good practice, and identify areas for development
  • reflect on ways to translate ideas to your school context, and plan for action
