Summary

 

Would you like to develop your understanding of how to embed working scientifically in your Early Years setting?   This session, led by Kathryn Horan, an Early years specialist and STEM Learning Lead Professional Development Leader will introduce you to some key strategies. 

You will explore a range of practical ideas linked to the EYFS framework that will enable you to plan and facilitate learning opportunities in science.  You will develop your knowledge to support the development of effective practical science activities and how to support learning.  You will also consider some common misconceptions and how to address these.

There is a 50% subsidy available from STEM Learning. Please note that this does not deduct the fee immediately. You will receive an invoice for the full amount and the subsidy will be released back to the school once the invoice has been paid and attendance at the session has been confirmed.

Outcomes

Intended outcomes: 

  • Develop your own subject knowledge and how to help address children’s misconceptions.​
  • Identify how working scientifically is developed in EYFS through characteristics of effective learning (CoEL)​
  • Describe how working scientifically helps children develop conceptual knowledge.
