Summary

This course will enable you to support pupils in developing creative, technical, and practical expertise in D&T through the use of digital technologies, building pupils’ digital skills and allowing them to participate in an increasingly technological world.

During the course, you will have lots of hands-on experiences learning about Crumble and Micro:bit and how to use these devices in the classroom to design and make products, which can be programmed and controlled. You will also learn how to use the software to program the device to control switches, buzzers, motors, LED lights and more. This will enable you to support pupils to apply their understanding of computing to control their products.

You will also learn how to use computer-aided design with pupils to generate, develop and model designs for products and how this can support them to develop prototypes. As well as these practical aspects, the course will look at how to develop skills and approaches and will explore projects where children learn and apply digital skills to maximise opportunities for learning in D&T.
