Summary

New to Teaching Primary Science?

We will support you in developing essential knowledge and practical strategies to inspire your pupils.  During this 1 day course you will cover topics included in four of our primary remote courses: How to teach primary science - developing subject knowledge, exploring the curriculum, planning for progression & assessment and understanding working scientifically.

We will begin by delving into the primary science curriculum, helping you identify key concepts and approaches that form the foundations of effective science teaching.  Next, we will explore the intricacies of working scientifically, seamlessly integrating this approach into your teaching. By doing so, you will empower your pupils to develop disciplinary skills and cultivate their inquisitive minds.

Equipped with strategies to identify common misconceptions, you’ll guide pupils in understanding age-appropriate scientific ideas. Additionally, we’ll walk you through effective assessment techniques, enabling you to gauge pupil progress. This includes developing manageable methods for gathering information that informs future learning opportunities.

By the end of this course, you’ll leave with a wealth of ideas and resources to enhance your science teaching. Let’s ignite curiosity together!
