Summary

This course is for teachers and other educational consultants who are undertaking Stage 1 of the Professional Development Leader Development Programme and who wish to become accredited with CPD Quality Mark

You should have completed FD101 and FD102 before completing this course.

This course looks at what can help make science CPD as effective as possible, with some practical guidance for technicians. It starts by exploring what the evidence suggests and then looks at how this can be put into practice. The whole process of running a course is considered: starting at the planning phase as outcomes are written; examining the sort of activities (including assessment) that could be part of the CPD itself; and finishing with techniques to support participants post-course.

This course also examines both why and how we should be involving science practical work in our science CPD, and what we can do to improve engagement from all staff. It is designed to help technicians based in schools or FE institutions who are working towards becoming effective Professional Development Leaders of science CPD, with a particular focus on how and when to help develop experimental knowledge and skills.
