During this one day course you’ll explore how to develop digital graphics, you’ll explore a variety of different tools to enhance the quality and appearance of the graphics.

Suitable digital graphics are key to attracting the attention of a user, they act as one of the key components to building brand awareness and influencing your target audience’s decision making process.

During this one day course, you’ll explore how the use of logos, shapes, typography, colour and composition can all influence the effectiveness of digital graphics. You’ll begin developing your own digital graphics, working towards a client brief. Your Professional Development Leader will showcase the different tools available within freely available graphic software. Having explored how to develop suitable visual identities, you’ll apply these concepts by creating original, digital graphics, incorporating your visual identity.

With digital graphic development included on the Level 1/2 Cambridge National in Creative iMedia, this one day course will support your understanding of how to develop suitable digital graphics. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from a STEM Ambassador working in the graphic development industry, including the opportunity to ask questions.

Who is it for?

This one day course is suitable for any secondary teachers planning on, or already delivering digital graphics content in the classroom; including teachers delivering the Cambridge National in Creative iMedia qualification.

What topics are covered?

  • What makes a unique and effective identity? – during this session you’ll explore how to make your graphics unique, engaging and attractive for your target audience. You’ll explore strategies used by businesses to attract their audience.
  • Bitmap and vector graphics – during this session you’ll explore the differences between bitmap and vector graphics. You’ll develop examples of both type of graphic, comparing the differences and exploring when each example should be used.
  • Using graphic development software – during this session your Professional development Leader will explore freely available software, which can be used to develop high quality digital graphics. They will explore a wide variety of different tools which can be used to enhance the appearance of your graphics.
  • Developing your own graphics – working towards a client brief, you’ll develop your digital graphics, using tools you’ve learnt about in the previous session, drawing tools and sourcing your own digital assets.
  • Technical compatibility - you’ll explore the different file formats available and when these should be utilised, depending on the output purpose of the digital graphic. You’ll get to grips with resizing digital graphics and editing file properties.
