Summary
An interactive workshop for teachers of CCEA's A-Level in Life and Health Science looking at scientific investigations and the work-up of a drug. The workshop will consist of:
- A morning session from the Royal Society of Chemistry, with opportunities for hands-on experience of six scientific investigations suitable for Unit A2 1: "Scientific Method, Investigation, Analysis and Evaluation".
- An afternoon session from Ulster University's Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Department on the work-up of a drug, suited for AS.6: "Medicine, Drugs and Clinical trials".

Outcomes
This workshop will enable teachers of CCEA's A Level Life and Health Science to:
- Enrol onto “Teach Chemistry”, the programme from the Royal Society of Chemistry that supports Ireland and UK-based secondary teachers and technicians in the classroom and the staffroom
- Locate, try, test and evaluate five investigative practicals from the Royal Society of Chemistry, suitable for “Unit A2 1: Scientific Method, Investigation, Analysis and Evaluation” unit of the CCEA Life and Health Science A-Level
- Explore the history, origin, applications, extraction and monitoring of the cardiac drug, Digoxin
- Explore the role, pharmaceutics and development (including clinical trials) of the cardiac drug, Digoxin.
