Core Maths is the term for a suite of Level 3 qualifications designed for students who achieved at least a Grade 4 in GCSE mathematics and have chosen not to study A level Mathematics, but wish to develop their quantitative and problem-solving skills by continuing to study mathematics. In October 2023 the core maths premium was introduced to encourage the provision of core maths qualifications and expand maths education for students up to the age of 18.
