Inclusive and accessible lessons for SEND learners in science and the wider curriculum SL002

Improve your inclusive science teaching and explore the use of technology in enabling all pupils to make progress in science and the wider primary curriculum.

Summary

Teaching pupils with diverse learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), presents unique challenges. During this three-day residential, you'll complete two key courses, Inclusive primary science for pupils with SEND and Inclusive and accessible STEM lessons for SEND learners: the role of technology.

This includes exploring science provision for pupils with SEND, looking at assessment techniques and curriculum design modifications tailored to meet the needs of every learner. You'll then explore the effective use of digital tools and technologies to enable all pupils to access and progress and take an active part in learning.

Course Highlights:  Adaptive Teaching Strategies: Explore effective methods to adapt your teaching approach, ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their learning profiles, can engage with learning

Vocabulary Development: Learn techniques to enhance pupils’ scientific vocabulary, enabling better comprehension and communication.

Examine the role of technology in improving SEND provision in mainstream schools

Explore digital tools to improve accessibility

Group Task Facilitation: Discover ways to support children in collaborative group tasks, fostering active participation and learning.

You'll explore provision for pupils with SEND, looking at assessment techniques and curriculum design modifications tailored to meet the needs of every learner. You'll identify effective approaches to support learners with a wide range of additional needs and disabilities to ensure that your classroom and teaching is as inclusive as possible.
