Summary

If you are starting to teach or support science lessons for the first time it can be useful to understand the key ideas that teaching in the science is based on. 

Investigate some of the key ideas around the identification and teaching of misconceptions, effective development of practical skills and use of specific science language and vocabulary. You will be able to ask questions in a supportive environment and be able to see the ‘big picture’ of what makes science as a subject. You may also be interested in then developing your subject knowledge in our separate course KS3 science for non-scientists.

Teachers of other subjects who have been asked to teach science, teaching assistants and support staff of science at key stage 3.
