TRUMP BaBar Resource Package

The TRUMP BaBar Resource Package was produced for, and sponsored by, the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC). The package has three main components: a booklet of notes and information for teachers, a set of photocopiable student sheets and three colour posters/leaflets. This package was linked to a particle physics experiment called BaBar, which began to collect data in May 1999. The experiment was called BaBar because it was designed to study the interactions between B and B-bar mesons. The results from BaBar have provided information about the fundamental nature of matter and the laws that govern its behaviour. The package describes the experiment and the underlying physics. The package was aimed primarily at teachers and students of A-level physics, particularly those who are studying a particle physics option and so have some prior knowledge of the field. However, much of the information and activities is of more general interest.

TRUMP The Teaching Resources Unit for Modern Physics (TRUMP) was a collaboration between school teachers and academic experts whose aim is to support the teaching of modern physics in schools and colleges. The forerunner to TRUMP was the Particle Physics Project. The TRUMP Astrophysics Resource Package supports the teaching of astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology within AS- and A-level physics.

TRUMP BaBar Resource Package: Teachers' Notes

The BaBar Resource Package, from the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC), was written for teachers (and students) with a basic knowledge of modern particle physics, at the level set out in the resources from the TRUMP Particle Physics Project....

TRUMP BaBar Resource Package: Student Sheets

The TRUMP BaBar Resource Package, from the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) included a set of copiable student sheets. The activities were linked to the particle physics experiment called BaBar, which was designed to study the interactions between B and B-bar mesons. The sheets include...

TRUMP BaBar Resource Package: Posters/Leaflets

The TRUMP BaBar Resource Package, from the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC), included three colour posters/leaflets about matter, antimatter and the BaBar experiment. The posters help to explain how the BaBar experiment was designed to study the interactions between B and B-bar mesons as part...
