Institute of Physics: Supporting Physics Teaching

The Supporting Physics Teaching initiative from the Institute of Physics is intended to support specialist and non-specialist teachers who teach 11-16 physics.

Each topic contains a physics narrative, teaching and learning issues and teaching approaches:

• The physics narrative explains the physics of the topic using text, diagrams and video clips and could be used to enhance your subject knowledge or as a resource in the classroom.

• The teaching and learning issues explore some of the pupil misconceptions and challenges when teaching the topic.

• The teaching approaches describe suggested activities for the classroom.

The topics covered in this series are:

* Earth in space

* Electric circuits

* Electricity and energy

* Electricity and magnetism

* Energy

* Force and motion

* Forces

* Light

* Machines

* Magnetism

* Motion

* Radiations and radiating

* Sound
