Rocks and Fossils
Designed to support teaching Year 3/4 (rocks and fossils) as part of the science curriculum, give your class the opportunity to explore prehistoric life in an interactive and engaging way. Lots of hands on, fossil handling activities as students become palaeontologists learning about dinosaurs and other amazing prehistoric animals as they get to grips with food chains, adaptations and habitats whilst studying fossils and how fossils form.
Typical Session Activities

- How are fossils formed?
- What can they tell us about life in the past?
- Extinction/Climate Change
- Recognising fossils (properties of materials)
The workshop is designed to support learning associated with Key Stage 2 with a focus on exploring and kinaesthetic learning. The workshops help to reinforce learning associated with various elements of the curriculum such as food chains, rocks and fossils, teeth, healthy eating, scientific ideas and working scientifically as well as helping to maintain enthusiasm for literacy and numeracy.
This is an active session that involves extensive participation, collaborative learning and reinforces key learning concepts. Students and teachers benefit from the chance to meet and engage with professionals from a scientific background.
