The Roman Maths Challenge
Students are set a series of mathematical challenges to complete, including exploring symmetry and tessellation in mosaic-making, solving and Archimedes Square, using Roman building techniques, calculating pay for the Roman army and working out ratios. This practical workshop will engage and inspire students with maths.
Understand how a number of mathematical methods and functions were used in the past and are still used in the present - giving relevance to why they are still taught in schools.
Understand that mathematics has a practical relevance within the world they live.
