ESERO-UK school conferences 2019- celebrate the 50th anniversary of the First Manned Lunar Landing

Exactly 50 years ago on July 20, Apollo 11 landed on the Moon and the world heard these famous words as Neil Armstrong lowered onto the surface of the Moon: “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

On May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy announced the dramatic and ambitious goal of sending an American safely to the Moon before the end of the decade.

From 1969 to 1972, U.S. astronauts landed at six sites, each chosen for different scientific objectives.
