Carbon Cycle Caper
In this series of activities from the Science Museum, students understand the carbon cycle, how it has been affected by our use of fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution and how this underlies current worries about climate change. Students gain an atom's eye view of the carbon cycle and play out how the burning of fossil fuels is affecting the atmosphere.
A set of teachers' notes describe how to set up the activities, which can be run with a group of up to 60 students. Also contained are the necessary students stimulus materials and question sheets. The activities in the session include:
* Where's carbon?
* Carbon cycle
* Carbon in balance (pre-industrial revolution)
* Carbon out of balance (post-industrial revolution)
