Nuffield Advanced Physics: Physics and the Engineer

This Nuffield Advanced Physics book contained reprints of articles that had appeared in Science Journal. By the time that the Nuffield project was published, this journal had been discontinued and so reprints of its articles were no longer available. The articles were of the kind written so that a scientifically informed reader could keep up with new developments in science and technology. One of the aims of the publication was to give students some insight into how engineers think, and in how physical principles can be used in the service of human needs.

The selected articles were chosen for their technological interest, and for their direct usefulness in conjunction with the Nuffield Advanced Physics course. They mainly concerned two areas of technology which were emphasised in the Nuffield course: materials and electromagnetic machines.
