DNA Sequencing
From the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, this animation shows a detailed overview of the processes involved in the dideoxy or Sanger method for sequencing DNA. This is the method used to sequence the human genome. The animation demonstrates the principles and techniques involved in the Sanger sequencing method, and how the technology is involved in high throughput centres such as the Sanger Institute. It can be used when discussing the Human Genome Project and the outcomes of this international collaboration. To play the animation, first download the file and save it to your computer, where it will run as a Flash animation.
