Medicines for Pets

Produced by The Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC), these resources help to put curriculum science in a real life context. The activities use the pharmaceutical industry as a real life context to encourage children to look at the properties of materials, changing state and separation techniques.

Children investigate the challenges faced by research scientists that include:
* extraction and purification of the medicine's active ingredient
* formulation of a tablet
* testing the best shape for a tablet
* development of a suitable coating for a tablet.

The activities are supported by extensive teacher guidance and children's activity sheets.
