Melcombe Primary School, Year 5 Maths

At Melcombe Primary School in Hammersmith, Florence Robertson uses the grid method to continue to develop the multiplication skills of students in her mixed ability Year Five class.

As part of the Uncut Classrooms series on Teachers TV, the entire lesson is recorded and shown unedited, providing a resource which would be technically difficult for schools to capture. It is intended to help develop classroom observation skills.

The teacher introduces the video of her lesson, explains the objectives for the lesson, and sets the context. The picture is split between the views from two cameras, one following the teacher and the other showing the whole room.
