Enlargement
This video resource from Teachers TV is presented by Fran and Dave who demonstrate practical applications of mathematics as they investigate how to use a scale factor to work out new dimensions and enlarge different shapes.
Graphics are used to show techniques for drawing enlargements of 2D shapes from a centre of enlargement, and to consider the relationship between the length, area and volume of similar figures.
Calculations are performed in stages throughout the video, offering a pause point for teachers to hold a freeze frame on screen while students discuss the problem and perform the calculations themselves.
