Nuffield Advanced Mathematics Core Course

The five books covering the core course of Nuffield Advanced Mathematics each consisted mainly of activities through which students could develop their understanding of mathematical ideas and results, or could apply their knowledge and understanding to problems of various kinds. The activities were designed to make full use of graphics calculators.

For most of the activities students could work either individually or in a small group of two to four, but there were some activities for which individual or group work was specifically recommended. Students were expected to work on the activities outside the classroom as well as in class, sometimes with and sometimes without help from the teacher.
