eZero Island (11-14)

This resource from Siemens allows students to explore the challenges in making an island self-sufficient. They consider the varied energy requirements across the island and design an energy supply system that does not rely on fossil fuels. As well as making decisions about how to provide energy, students have to consider the pollution caused, the reliability of the supply, how easy it is to store and how easily it can be regulated to allow for fluctuating demand.
