Gas Meter

This maths activity offers a 'real life' context for learning about place value. A series of clues are provided which lead to specific numbers. These numbers represent meter readings and part of the challenge is for the children to accurately enter the numbers onto an analogue and a digital recording sheets. To understand the clues children need to show a good understanding of place value and accurate calculation skills. As most clues depend on one or more other clue in order for them to be answered correctly, the activity works best in small groups.

Provided by mathsticks this resource contains four different sets of clues (together with the answers), a blank clue sheet for your own customization and a copy of the recording sheet.
