Introduction to mouse genetics HC513 / G01
Summary
This course is aimed at technical staff, students and researchers new to the field of mouse genetics. It provides a basic training in genetic inheritance including Mendelian gene inheritance, breeding plans, dominant and recessive alleles and an introduction to mouse genetic backgrounds.
Teaching is delivered via seminars and interactive workshops. It includes worked examples and practical sessions on how to plan, predict and interpret mouse genotypes from standard laboratory crosses or genetically altered mouse lines.
Outcomes
Following this course you will:
- understand Mendelian gene inheritance
- be able to predict outcomes of genetic crosses
- have a working knowledge of the genetic background of mouse strains
