Developing the role of the primary science subject leader RE101 / E02
Summary
Good subject leadership has a positive impact on the quality of science teaching in primary schools. You will explore a range of strategies to audit and lead science in your school, understand your role more fully and be able to identify and promote
effective primary science. Gain a deeper understanding of the aims of the curriculum, develop your own subject knowledge and identify the role subject leaders’ play in developing a whole school approach to teaching science for KS1 and KS2.
This course is aimed specifically at science subject leaders and teachers with a strong interest in leading science. Students are enthused and motivated when they are involved in planning their own enquiries and can see the relevance of them to their everyday life. You will explore a range of techniques to draw out their ideas and develop strategies to inspire and incorporate these ideas into your science lessons.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- gain confidence and expertise in leading an exciting and enriching primary science curriculum
- learn new project ideas, knowledge and skills to deliver the national curriculum
- lead change in your school to support delivery of the new primary curriculum
