Healthy London Air
This resource from London Curriculum explores how statistical techniques are being applied to help solve the problem of air pollution in London. The resource consists of five lessons, covering Venn diagrams, graphs, correlation, representing data and careers:
Lesson 1: Using statistics to understand why air pollution is a problem
Lesson 2: Investigating air pollution in your local area
Lesson 3: Communicating our data to others
Lesson 4: Using maths and statistics in real life
Lesson 5: Looking forward to improved air quality in the future
Each lesson includes detailed teacher notes, information on setting the scene, a number of student activities, printable handouts and extension suggestions.
Students also have the opportunity to investigate professional roles that contribute to improvements in air quality and identify how maths is used in these careers.
