Estimate the radius of a circle of light

This resource from the IET Faraday programme, supported by MEI and Tomorrow's Engineers, shines a light on the area of a circle, Pythagoras' Theorem and enlargement by asking students to consider what they can see when a torch is shone on a wall.

"A circle of light appears when you shine a torch at a wall. The light is brightest in the centre and fades as you move towards the circumference of the circle."

The resource includes a presentation that introduces the task and a series of questions for students to explore. The activity overview includes classroom notes including a link to a GeoGebra file suitable for the task, discussion points, extension activity suggestions, answers and details of the curriculum content covered
