Essential skills for new technicians RB601 / L01
Summary
This course is suitable for technicians who are new to the post, or relatively inexperienced. It is designed to give you a deeper understanding of your role and build your confidence in handing unfamiliar equipment and reagents.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- gain a deeper understanding of your role within your science department
- evaluate the systems and procedures involved in the running of an effective technician service
- understand your responsibilities regarding health and safety
- become familiar with common equipment chemicals and reagents used in school science teaching and gain confidence in handling these safely
- practise common science practical activities and procedures

The sessions are deliberately spread across the region and across a variety of schools in order to allow the technicians to see that there is no one size fits all model for a Technician Service.
It is expected that participants will attend all sessions. The fee is for the entire course and represents excellent value for money.
