Super stairs

Act 1

A person is shown exercising by walking up stairs. In the first instance they walk straight to the top and then back down. In the second instance, known as ‘super-stairs’, they climb one step, and then back down, then they climb two steps, and then back down, and so on, incrementing by one step each time.

How many steps will the runner run on the super-stairs? How long will it take him to run them?

Act 3

A video reveals that there are 21 stairs, resulting in 462 steps in a time of 2 minutes 56.6 seconds.
