Linear graphs task
This short task considers identifying and interpreting linear graphs.
Students are given five equations of linear graphs. They must match four of them with graphs that have been drawn, and then draw the other graph on a set of axes. The final part of the task is to find a graph that could represent the speed of someone walking steadily, and a graph that could represent the conversion between two different currencies.
The resource comes with both scored and unscored student work. This is useful for peer assessment and ironing out misconceptions. A detailed rubric is provided for the task.
This is a short task lesson from the Mathematics Assessment Resource Service, a collaboration between UC Berkeley and the Shell Centre team at the University of Nottingham. Further information on the collection is given here.
