What's new in Genetics? NW208


Summary

 

This course will cover:

  1. a series of short talks from researchers and clinicians showcasing the latest developments in genomics, particularly in relation   to their application to medicine and health, including topics such as next generation sequencing and personalised medicine, amongst others.
  2. participation in a bioinformatics taster workshop, led by bioinformaticians from the Wales Gene Park- to undertake a practical introductory session to bioinformatics and learn how big data from whole genome sequencing can be analysed to identify disease causing genetic variations.

Content covered during this event will be relevant to examination board syllabuses used in welsh schools, for example the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) and AQA A/AS-level Biology syllabuses.
