Summary
An introduction to the key chemical ideas needed to understand energy changes. Participants will explore common misconceptions associated with this topic and review a range of strategies for dealing with these misconceptions. Opportunities will also be given to try out a range of relevant and engaging experiments designed to support students' progress.
Outcomes
Participants will:
- learn about some of the ‘misconceptions’ that can arise when teaching about energy and change and explore ways of dealing with them in the classroom
- try out a range of engaging and relevant practicals and demonstrations
- share views about effective strategies for supporting and enhancing the teaching and learning of energy changes in chemistry
