Fabulous fruit salad

The activities in this resource aim to help children to try a range of new fruits, to understand that eating a balanced diet can keep us healthy and to perform simple food skills safely such as peeling, cutting with a knife and mixing ingredients to make a fruit salad. This session contains a lesson plan, advice sheets supporting setting up cooking with your class and support to ensure that food tasting is an enjoyable experience for all learners. There is also a letter with an activity to send home to parents in order to continue the learning outside of the classroom and fruit display cards. Although this resource is designed for EYFS, covering many areas of Development Matters, such as Physical Development, Listening and Attention and Playing Exploring, it could be easily adapted to work across the primary phase.

This education programme is managed by the British Nutrition Foundation in partnership with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
