Year 6 - stage 5

This resource supports teaching Year 6 pupils to work within a budget, analyse the nutritional content of food and solve multi step problems. Through these resources pupils will be challenged to make their menu ideas fit within a set budget. Pupils will need to use written calculation methods in a real life context to adapt their dishes until they are affordable. There is an opportunity within this session to take children to a supermarket to complete the lesson and give them the chance to pay for their items themselves. An additional problem is then posed which requires pupils to consider the nutritional content of their dish. This session is the fifth in a ten session long STEM project provided by NFU Education.
