Summary
Course outline: A level students often find emf and internal resistance tricky concepts especially if they never really mastered circuits at GCSE. This one-hour course is for those new to teaching A level, or those in need of a refresher. It aims to strengthen the subject knowledge needed to teach this key topic. You will explore ways of revising and building student understanding from GCSE and overcoming misconceptions, together with techniques for teaching.

Outcomes
Course outcomes:
You will be:
- Able to analyse a circuit, using the emf equation to solve increasingly complex set of problems
- Aware of the most common misconceptions which students have in facing circuit questions
- Equipped with suggestions to guide students through this topic including some practical contexts
This is part of a series of 3 workshops which will help you gain confidence in your understanding of physics and your ability to teach it engagingly. You will be introduced to lots of ideas and resources to help in your teaching and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Book for all 3 to gain real immersion in the subject or pop into individual workshops for help with a particular topic.
