Spacecraft Materials Case SY001

The Spacecraft Materials Case is a box of materials developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) that engages primary aged pupils in multiple curriculum areas through the context of a space mission.


Summary

Participants of this CPD will have the opportunity to get hands on with the kit and learn how to use it in their classroom to explore topics such as electricity, materials science, magnetism, heat and scientific enquiry.

Teachers will have the opportunity to borrow the kit from their Enrichment Partnership (subject to availability), and learn about space context challenges, competitions and resources available through ESERO-UK (www.stem.org.uk/esero) 

Outcomes

Understand how the design of the spacecraft requires knowledge in several curriculum topics

Learn how to use the space materials case to teach aspects of electricity, materials science, magnetism, heat and scientific enquiry

Know how to access further resources and professional development available through ESERO-UK
