Designing the future

Designing the Future from Siemens is a set of activities which help students to discover the manufacturing process and how digitalisation is making factories smarter.

This resource includes an online interactive game which allows pupils to explore a smart factory highlighting the different areas in the production process and the roles and functions within each area.

This game can be used to introduce a series of three lessons which contextualise computer-aided design (CAD) within current engineering practice and digital technologies, by following the development of a new product.

To deliver the lessons the Siemens NX Student Edition design and make software needs to be downloaded which can be found on the following link.  It is suggested that teachers familiarise themselves with this software before delivering the lessons.
