Cutting Edge Science: Genomics RH487 / A01
Summary
This inspirational course will enable teachers to understand the latest developments at the cutting edge of genomics research and bring this back to the classroom. Taking place at the Wellcome Genome Campus, you will experience a tour of the world's foremost facility in genomics research and computational biology. You will hear from lead scientists about their research (including a tour of stem cell research laboratories), participate in hands-on practical activities and receive expert guidance on how to link genomics research to the curriculum.
Genomics is featured in various key stage 4 and key stage 5 specifications, including GCSE Biology, A-Level Biology, BTEC Level 3 Applied Science and T Level Science. This course is aimed at teachers of these qualifications and will assume some understanding of basic principles - it is highly recommended for teachers wishing to provide students with a stimulating and rich educational experience that goes beyond specification content.
Teacher Release Payments
Participants on this course from maintained schools or colleges will be eligible to receive a £100 subsidy on completion of the course, to help towards costs associated with attending CPD.
The school or college will be invoiced for the course fee at the point of booking and will automatically be credited the subsidy within 6 weeks of completion of the course.
