Summary
SEND learners, those who are operating well below age expected norms and especially early adolescents, view the world in unique ways. This course will provide insights into how SEND learners make sense of the world and then offer practical suggestions for activities that can be used to support their needs within the science classroom.
Day one of this course will be held face to face, with a second remote, one to one meeting for each participant, followed by a final group remote session.

Outcomes
The main outcomes of this course are:
- An understanding of the types of thinking that typify the SEND learner in science,
- Access to a range of activities to support the development of thinking of SEND learners,
- Knowledge of how Piagetian levels of thinking support science teaching,
- An understanding of SEND-friendly pedagogy for use to develop thinking in science.
