Sport and sustainability

This resource designed by the IET, challenges students to apply their skills in new and exciting ways as they find out about the carbon cycle and what Land Rover BAR are doing to be as sustainable as possible. The activity can be used as an introduction to the topic of life cycle assessment.

Using the real life context of the British America’s Cup Team, the resources cover life cycle assessment and students learn that all products are likely to have some negative impact on the environment and it is important to consider the four key areas of;

  • Extracting and processing raw materials
  • Manufacturing and packaging
  • Use and operation during its lifetime
  • Disposal at the end of its useful life.

The topic of sustainability can be introduced with this short video where Land Rover BAR team members explain how Land Rover BAR is building a long-term sustainable business and protecting the environment. The differentiated worksheets reinforce learning objectives for this topic.
